Tattoo Design Process

Please direct ALL enquiries to info@onetribetattoo.com

Please note One Tribe receive numerous amounts of emails each week, and reading and actioning each one is a task of it's own, so One Tribe kindly asks for your patience once you have sent your email. Thankyou for your understanding and support!

A tribal tattoo is not simply just a bunch of patterns put together and made into a fashion statement. Every motif and pattern has a spiritual meaning and a cultural significance, and when arranged correctly tells a very personal story of the wearer of the tattoo.

For anyone interested in getting a custom Filipino Tribal Tattoo designed by One Tribe, please read the design process below.

Profile Form

It is a requirement that you fill out and email back the Profile Form. This form includes a series of personal questions about yourself, your family, your ancestral and cultural background, and details of your tattoo requirements.

One Tribe asks that you answer the questions thoroughly and to the best of your knowledge. This stage requires patience and is the true beauty of the journey as it involves taking your own time out to research and reconnect with your Filipino roots.

Your answers will enable One Tribe to understand more about you, your tattoo design request and will also determine the design fee.

Quotation

Once One Tribe has reviewed and are satisfied with your Profile Form, they will reply with a DESIGN FEE QUOTE and the next available OPENING DATE. If you wish to proceed One Tribe will then explain the methods of payment and a general consultation may occur.

Payment

One Tribe will require a 50% NON-REFUNABLE DEPOSIT to secure your booking. Once One Tribe are ready to commence on your tattoo design, you will be contacted to finalise the outstanding amount. Each design takes approximately 3-5 weeks to complete and may take a little longer for larger or multiple pieces. Once complete your design will then be scanned and emailed to you.

The cost for a tribal tattoo piece varies and all depends on the size, body-placement and detail of the design. One Tribe charge a small fee for their designs as each piece is CUSTOM. The fee covers for the time, labour and effort that go into each individual design which involves weeks of study, research and design work. The fee also covers for the research tools, materials and overhead costs involved in the design process.

Getting Your Tattoo

One Tribe do not tattoo as their primary focus is in the research, study and design of Filipino tattoos. They have recommended tattoo artists to ink their designs, else a client may choose their own preferred tattoo artist, but with the condition that One Tribe must also approve of them.

Notice

There have been a few people interested in getting a Filipino tribal tattoo but do not want to pay extra for a design. Please note that most tattoo artists also charge an EXTRA FEE for a custom design but most importantly, "how well do they really understand our Filipino tattoo traditions and our culture? And is it worth the risk saving a few dollars by getting a random, flash tribal tattoo with no real meaning that will be on your skin for the rest of your life?" Please consider these factors before rushing into a lifetime decision – "getting a tattoo is a journey, not a destination."

Also remember in the ancient times tattoos were earned, many sacrifices were made and rituals were performed before any person was to receive a tattoo, and the markings they received were all significant to their beliefs and way of life. So in respect and consideration of the tradition, the people of those cultures, our great ancestors and your body, One Tribe recommend for anyone planning on getting a Filipino tribal tattoo to be patient, conduct your research, obtain the knowledge and truly understand the meanings of the motifs and symbols, and the relation they have to you and your culture before placing them onto your skin.
